4. Performance Issues
=====================

- If you experience poor frame rates, you may want to try some of the following steps:

Turn off 'Environment Mapping' (under the "Detail Level" tab), turning this option off will provide the greatest speed increase.

Switch all video settings (under the "Detail Level" tab) to lower settings.

Disable "Hardware Acceleration" option within the "Audio" tab.

Lower the resolution the game runs in. Higher resolutions should only be used on high-end systems. On older less powerful machines it is also suggested that you choose a 16bit resolution (i.e. "800x600x16").

NOTE: Always ensure you have the very latest drivers installed for your graphics card and operating system.

- If you are using Windows 2000, please ensure you have at least Service Pack 1 installed. This can be downloaded from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp

NOTE: This link may change, so if it does not work, just search www.microsoft.com for Windows 2000 Service Pack download.

If you have not got Service Pack 1 or later installed you may experience performance problems.

==================
5. Troubleshooting
==================

If the introduction animation is missing from the start of FORD STREET RACING, you may need to upgrade to Windows Media Player 9.

If the game crashes after you select your Profile (before you reach the Main Menu) then you will need to install Media Player 9.

The latest version of Windows Media can be downloaded from:

http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer

If the game appears too dark, please adjust your monitor's brightness or your video card's gamma setting.

If you are using a "Jaton 3dforce" based graphics card (or similar) you may experience minor graphical errors. To fix this, turn off the "Dynamic Shadows" option in the configuration program.

========================
6. Steering Wheel Configuration
========================
Use the configuration program to set up the buttons on your steering wheel. When you map an axis, it will have a '+' or '-' sign next to the mapping depending on which way you moved the axis.

If your wheel supports both single and split-axis pedals, you will be able to select the setting you prefer in the Windows Control Panel or in the software that was supplied with the wheel. If you do change your pedals from single-axis to split-axis (or visa versa), you will need to remap the accelerate and brake controls in the configuration program.

Please ensure that the wheel has the latest drivers installed for it and that it is set up and calibrated correctly in Windows (go to 'Control Panel/Gaming Options' or 'Control Panel/Game Controllers').
